The onshore wind industry in Scotland is currently facing significant challenges and headwinds, including the low ambition for the sector after 2030 as stated in the Clean Power Action Plan (CPAP), which risks undermining security of supply, consumer costs, and the thousands of jobs supported by the sector in Scotland at present.
Currently there is no single, independent voice dedicated solely to representing Scotland’s onshore wind developers. This is increasingly important at a time when different generation technologies may have competing priorities and positions.
We have established the Scottish Onshore Wind Developers Forum (SOWDF) to ensure that the views of Scotland’s onshore wind sector are heard directly by policymakers, regulators, and government. By doing so, we aim to reinforce and complement the work of other trade bodies including Scottish Renewables, Renewable UK and Energy UK.
